ICBC Changes – Health Care Services Limit

DID YOU KNOW?

The new legislation respecting changes to ICBC sets new limits on health care services. These limits apply to the amount ICBC will cover for such things as chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, kinesiology and physician care following a motor vehicle accident.

The new fee schedule also sets frequency caps on treatments. If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident on or after April 1, 2019, you can receive between 12 – 25 pre-authorized treatments under ICBC for chiropractic, acupuncture, counselling, kinesiology, massage therapy, physiotherapy and psychology but the frequency varies depending on the treatment. Any additional treatments and treatments over 12 weeks after the motor vehicle accident will not be covered by ICBC; that is, unless ICBC’s medical advisor or your personal physician certifies in writing that treatment is necessary.

The laws in BC have changed and the new system can be difficult to navigate. It is vital, then, to seek legal counsel immediately following a motor vehicle accident. A lawyer can help you defend your rights and ensure that you receive proper compensation.

Based in Cranbrook, Rella, Paolini & Rogers operates one of the largest, most successful motor vehicle accident claims practices in the southeast region of B.C., with a focus on ICBC claims.
